Requirements

  • macOS 13.0 (Ventura) or later
  • Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3) or Intel Mac
  • 500MB free disk space

Download

Download env

Get the latest version for macOS

Direct Download

Download the latest .dmg from dotenv.id or from GitHub Releases.

Install

  1. Open the downloaded .dmg file
  2. Drag env to your Applications folder
  3. Eject the disk image
  4. Open env from Applications
On first launch, macOS may ask you to confirm opening an app from an unidentified developer. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.

Verify Installation

Open Terminal and run: 
open -a "env"
If env launches, you’re all set.

Uninstall

To remove env:
  1. Quit env if it’s running
  2. Delete /Applications/env.app
  3. Optionally, remove preferences: ~/Library/Application Support/env
